Creating the African Landscapes Action Plan

Published on 28 May 2015. The African Landscapes Action Plan, an ambitious yet practical agenda for advancing sustainable land and water management on the continent, has been endorsed by the NEPAD Agency and TerrAfrica. It has already inspired new projects and programs, and work continues to be organized, by national governments, regional bodies, bilateral and multilateral development partners, and international NGOs, under its compelling logic and theory of change.

A gathering in Nairobi, organized by the Landscapes for People, Food and Nature Initiative with the support of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, convened nearly 200 African experts, from policy, business, development, research and conservation. Through working sessions these experts focused in on the critical priorities for advancing integrated landscape management.

The plan is a major outcome of the Landscapes for People, Food and Nature in Africa Conference which was hosted by the World Agroforestry Centre in Nairobi, Kenya in 1-3 July 2014.
